Centenary Celebrations
The Centenary Baton is taking a year to travel throughout England, Wales and The Islands, in advance of our Centenary Year for the WI movement. Kirton in Lindsey WI received the Baton from Messingham WI on Saturday 24th May 2014.
Following breakfast at Kirton in Lindsey Town Hall with our Messingham guest we then held a cake stall in the Market Place then Town Hall due to the rain. A number of members then set off to walk across the fields to Hibaldstow to pass the baton on to Hibaldstow WI. We were sent on our way with the best wishes from Kirton in Lindsey Town Mayor Stan Stamford.
The weather was appalling and the walkers were very wet and muddy by the time they arrived in Hibaldstow. Hibaldstow WI made us very welcome and put on a wonderful spread of food to celebrate before taking charge of the baton.
